How to Join

The Midwest Hardware Association offers two forms of membership options in the Midwest.

Retail Membership—Any firm, corporation, or representative having an established place of business in the states of Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin, and engaged in the retailing of any hardware, paints, housewares, sporting goods, heating and plumbing fixtures and supplies, lawn and garden equipment and supplies, and such other goods usually sold by retail hardware stores, whose application has been approved, may become an active member of the Midwest Hardware Association upon payment of the established membership fee.

It is understood that the membership is with the store and not the individual or individuals. Therefore, if there is a change in the store's ownership, then the paid membership will be transferred to the new owner or owners. Only where the present store discontinues business at a location and moves to another is the membership transferable.

The annual membership investment (ranging from $250 to $400 per calendar year depending on sales) includes access to the MHA's member services and special member pricing, the MHA's monthly electronic newsletter, eHELPS, and membership in the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) (formerly National Retail Hardware Association).

Multiple stores: the highest volume store pays the annual investment based on sales. Each additional store is $150 per unit up to a maximum of $975 per corporation.

Associate Membership—Any firm, corporation, or representative engaged in manufacturing, wholesaling, or distributing products or services to the retail hardware industry in the states of Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin shall be eligible for associate membership in the Midwest Hardware Association.

The annual membership investment of $250 per calendar year includes the MHA Member List, an electronic subscription to the MHA's monthly electronic newsletter, eHELPS, membership in the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) (formerly National Retail Hardware Association), along with access to other MHA member services.
